The University of Buea's rapid growth had outpaced the availability of quality student housing in the area. The client — a private investor — commissioned a 48-unit residential complex designed specifically for student life.
The brief called for durable, low-maintenance construction, efficient unit layouts, shared communal spaces, and reliable utility systems — all within a budget that would allow competitive rental pricing.
Each unit was designed with a study zone, kitchenette, bathroom, and sleeping area within a compact 28 m² footprint. Communal areas include covered outdoor seating, a shared laundry room, and a 24-hour security post.
The complex was fully occupied within 6 weeks of handover. It has since been cited by the University of Buea as a model for private student housing development in the region.
